Orange Banana Date Oatmeal

Ingredients

1 gal. orange juice
7-1/2 cups water
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1-1/2 tsp. salt, optional
1, 42 oz. container Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned,
uncooked)
5-2/3 cups chopped dates or raisins
8 medium ripe bananas, mashed or chopped small

Directions

  1. In heavy saucepan, combine ingredients. Bring to brisk boil. Stir occasionally*.
  2. Stir in oats. Simmer 1 minute for quick oats. Simmer 3-5 minutes for old fashioned oats. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in dates or raisins.
  4. Transfer mixture to steamtable; cover. Let stand 5-10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  5. Stir in bananas. Let stand 5 minutes.

Chef's Tips

  • Stirring liquids will keep heat even, and prevent boil over.
  • Dates or raisins may be served on the side as optional topping.
  • Banana puree may be substituted for mashed bananas.
